Gram-positive organisms

Main clinical infections:       

  • Staphylococci and the ß haemolytic streptococci commonly produce skin and wound infections.

  • Staphylococci, Enterococci and Corynebacteria produce line related infections. 

  • Clostridia can be part of the polymicrobial mixture in abdominal and gangrenous wound infections.
